Maurizio Moretti is considered amongst the Italian pianists who has been well
appreciated by main concert halls during recent years.
Born in Cagliari, he studied under Ida Allegretto at the Conservatory of his town
and then for five years with Aldo Ciccolini, who wrote about him: "an extraordinary
rhytmical vitality, a special inborn musical treatment of sound and a great technical
capacity which characterize his pianism. He is surely one of the most talented
and original exponents of Italian pianism."
A regular guest of prestigious theatre, Maurizio Moretti has played concerts in
all European countries, regularly participating to tours in France, Spain, Germany,
Belgium, Austria as well as throughout Eastern European countries playing both
recitals and concerts with the major orchestras including, CONCERTGEBOUW ORCHESTER,
EUROPEAN COMMUNITY CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, KIEV PHILARMONIC, PRAGA PHILARMONIC, PHILHARMONIE
OF THE NATIONS, PHILARMONICA HUNGARICA, LITHUANIAN NATIONAL PHILARMONIC, PHILARMONIQUE
DE GRENOBLE, SWEDISH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, MOSCOW SOLOISTS with YURY BASHMETS and
in Italy with ORCHESTRA DI PADOVA E DEL VENETO, FILARMONICI di TORINO, VIRTUOSI
DI SANTA CECILIA, SOLISTI DEL TEATRO alla SCALA, ORCHESTRA TOSCANINI, SALZBURG
CHAMBER SOLOISTS.
He has taken part into such major International musical festivals such as:
MENTON FESTIVAL, MONTECARLO, MUSIKHALLE HAMBURG, FESTIVALS DE LA COTE DŽAZUR ROQUEBRUNE,
SALZBURG MIRABELL KONZERT, STUTTGART MARMOORSAAL, SOCIEDAD FILARMONICA DI MALAGA,
MADRID AUDITORIO NACIONAL, TEATRO DE LA MAESTRANZA of SEVILLA, PHILARMONIC HALL
VILNIUS,FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE AYAMONTE SPAIN as well as in Italy TEATRO OLIMPICO
of VICENZA, FESTIVAL PUCCINI of TORRE DEL LAGO, SOCIETAŽdei CONCERTI of MILAN,
SALA VERDI di MILAN .obtaining a lot of success and with immediate reinvitation
for the following seasons.
In 1997 he made his successful debut in Munich at the famous Philharmony Hall.
He has also recently obtained great success touring Spain with the Swedish Chamber
Orchestra and with ConcertGebouw Orchester at the Palacio del Festival de Santander
Espana, Auditorio Nacional de Musica de Madrid, San Sebastian Festival ... He
has also participated as soloist in the great concert held in Bologna Piazza Maggiore
last 2 August, together with Orchestra of Emilia Romagna, to commemorate the massacre
of Bologna. This event was directly telecasted in the presence of over 6.000 persons.
He has also carried out a successful tour playing as soloist with the Moscow Soloists
conducted by Yuri Bashmet, with the Prague Philarmonic playing Brahms concerto
n° 1, Philharmonie of the nations under Justus Frantz in Hamburg. In 2001 he played
in Moscow at Tschaikovsky Conservatory Concert Hall. Moreover, he toured with
the Budapest Symphony Orchestra in France and had concerts at the Classic Festival
in Peyuruis and at the Pablo Casals Festival in Prades.
Maurizio Moretti is currently artistic director of the International Chamber Music
festival of the Roman theater of Nora (Cagliari), artistic director of the Ente
Musicale of Nuoro and Principal Guest soloists in the Orchestra Sinfonica of LŽAquila
. He plays regulary in piano duo with Angela Oliviero. In addition he has carried
out import registrations for Rai Due, Rai Radio tre, France Musique, Radio Montecarlo,
TVE Espana, Baltic Radio Television, ZDF Germany.
