John Axelrod has established his profile as one of today's leading young conductors and is sought after by orchestras throughout the world.

Now in his 4th season as Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Luzerner Sinfonie Orchester and Theater, Mr. Axelrod focuses on a continuing Beethoven cycle with the 4th and 7th symphonies and 5th piano concerto with Fazil Say. A newly commissioned piano concerto, "Sotte Voce II" from Wolfgang Rihm also highlights Mr. Axelrod's commitment to new music. Upcoming 2007-2008 opera productions in Luzern include Mozart's "Idomeneo" for the Lucerne Festival, and Verdi's "Falstaff" in Autumn 07.

Two more recordings with the Luzerner Sinfonie Orchester, produced by Michael Haas for NIMBUS, will be released this season: Ernst Krenek's "1st Symphony," Lieder from Julius Burger with Baritone Dietrich Henschel, and "Intermezzo/Scherzo" by Franz Schreker; and a live recording from the 2006 Lucerne Festival of Bernstein's 3rd Symphony "Kaddish," with a new text from Samuel Pisar, and Schoenberg's "Survivor from Warsaw" and Weill's "Berliner Requiem," all featuring the Berliner Rundfunk Chorus.

Other recordings scheduled for a 2007-2008 release include Dvorak's *9th Symphony* with the Württemburgischer Philharmonie Reutlingen for GENUIN, and Rolf Wallin's percussion concerto *Das War Schön" with soloist Martin Grubinger and the Oslo Philharmonic for ONDINE.

Additional engagements during the 2007-2008 Season include Mr. Axelrod's debuts with the Philadelphia Orchestra, with the Gurzenich-Orchester Köln, and in Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw with Het Brabant Orkest, and returns to the Orchestre de Paris, Dresden Philharmonic and Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra.

As Principal Guest Conductor since 2000 of Sinfonietta Cracovia, John Axelrod continues building the orchestra to international recognition. Special projects have included an award winning Holocaust Memorial DVD, produced by the BBC, and Berlioz' "Symphony Fantastique," produced for ARTE. Mr. Axelrod will make his 5th return appearance at the 2008 Beethoven Festival in Warsaw.

John Axelrod's 2006-2007 Season has been a milestone in his career, Outstanding debuts included Vienna's Musikverein with the ORF Orchestra, with the Oslo Philharmonic and the Shanghai Symphony. Mr. Axelrod returned to conduct the Gewandhaus Orchester and Leipzig Oper in OpenAir concerts in Rosental Park in July 2007. The public and critical success of Bernstein's "Candide" as premiered in Paris's Theatre du Chatelet and in Milano's Teatro alla Scala has established his reputation in leading opera houses. In Summer 2008, Mr. Axelrod will make his debut at the Bregenz Festival conducting Krenek's "Kehraus."

Mr. Axelrod is a regular guest conductor of such leading orchestras as the Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, Orchestre National de Lille, the NDR Sinfonie Orchester Hannover, Orquestra Gulbenkian Lisboa, The Polish National Radio Orchestra Katowice, Radio Sinfonie Orchester Stuttgart, and Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, and has appeared with the London Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Hollywood Bowl, Orchestre National de Lyon, Salzburg Mozarteum, and the Hungarian National Philharmonic.

Since 1997, Mr. Axelrod is also the Founder and Conductor Laureate of Orchestra X in Houston, Texas. Orchestra X is internationally recognized for developing the next audience for classical music with innovative programs in non-traditional formats.

Mr. Axelrod currently lives between Luzern, Switzerland and Strasbourg, France and is the proud father of daughter, Tallulah.
